Finally, a major reason for the Iraq invasion is admitted in plain site…
After swearing up and down that:
- Iraq had WMDs.
- Saddam is a bad guy.
- We’re there to bring them democracy.
- Oh well, we’re there already. Forget about how we got stuck in Iraq. We’ve got to stay there or else there will be chaos (Nevermind that there is more chaos and violence because of the U.S. presence)
- Well, OK but oil prices are high. We need to get their oil.
The truth finally comes out from the mouths of the neo-cons:
Check out this article from the International Herald Tribune, “Deals with Iraq are set to bring oil giants back”.
Exxon Mobil, Shell, Total and BP — the original partners in the Iraq Petroleum Company — along with Chevron and a number of smaller oil companies, are in talks with Iraq’s Oil Ministry for no-bid contracts to service Iraq’s largest fields, according to ministry officials, oil company officials and an American diplomat.
Now some people are so arrogant that they’re even saying that “The Iraqis ought to give us a 100 year lease on their oil” and “They (Iraqis) owe us”.
Notice that the Democratic Strategist is almost every bit as idiotic when she recommends further investment (READ: government subsidies) in ethanol and other biofuels. As if the price of food weren’t high enough!
